I am not a victim. I am not a fibromyalgic – that is not my identity. I am a person with symptoms of fibromyalgia.
I have hope that my condition is temporary. I believe in the power of the body to heal. I can and will find access to healing.
The journey won’t be easy. I will have to fight myself – my addictions, maladaptions, and habits.
I will have to fight my discouraging symptoms.
I will have to fight against stigma – those who feel sorry for me, don’t believe in my symptoms, or don’t understand.
I will have to fight against fibromyalgics – those who find identity in their symptoms. They will not help my progress or prognosis.
But I am young. I am a fighter. I will not give up. I am not a victim.
